Will I have problems getting FCP to recognise this camera MXF so there's absolutely no reason what so ever to use Apple. as I said don't use Apple anything when it comes to transferring clips. For reasons known only unto Apple FCS will PERMANENTLY delete all of your clip metadata. The best way to transfer and index all your clips is by using the free utility provided by Panasonic called P2CMS google it for the download location. PLEASE, PLEASE and PRETTY PLEASE do NOT allow Apple anywhere near your HVX files. Will the information transfer as a Quick Time I understand that I need to make sure I have Panasonic Mac P2 driver installed on my Mac computer >and then transfer info via the firewire Just make sure the drive is self powered as the HVX won't supply bus power. Technology moves at a fast pace! Many thanks for any help.Ĭan I go straight from my camera via firewire400 to an external LaCie hard drive and bypass using > a computer and get the files/footage transferred I read Shane's article (2005) about the work flow of using P2cards on the "Civil War Documentary" and History Channel but wondered if there are many changes since that time. Will I have problems getting FCP to recognize this camera? I may have more questions later on as to what settings to use, that is 720p 24/30? My end result is for the Web, highest quality, small file size and possibly burn a DVD. I'm coming from the work flow of using a Sony VX2100 camera where I was confident in capturing DV footage and editing. Also, will this transfer in "real time" or how long can I expect the transfer to take? Will the information transfer as a Quick Time file or will it show up as in the the tutorials as "Content" and "Lastclip.tx"? I'm working with FCP 2 Studio Suite. This is what I'd like to know: can I go straight from my camera via firewire400 to an external LaCie hard drive and bypass using a computer and get the files/footage transfered or can that only happen with a P2Store? If not, then I understand that I need to make sure I have Panasonic Mac P2 driver installed on my Mac computer and then transfer info via the firewire. I have been reading many threads the last several days on this subject and it is still not clear to me! I'm a I have gone to Shane Ross' site and watched tutorial. I'm hoping some one could help me with this question in regards with transferring video and information off a P2 card from an Panasonic HVX-200 camera.
